Usually when we think about cheesecake, the first flavors to come to mind are strawberry, chocolate, caramel, and other similar varieties. However, savory cheesecakes can be delicious too, although you might not have tried one before.
A savory cheesecake might be a cheese-based mixture over a crunchy crust or it might have a topping, like a sweet cheesecake would. If you are making a spinach and walnut cheese cake recipe, for example, you can arrange some walnuts on top as a garnish. If you were making a tomato cheesecake, some fresh tomato slices would be good.

Ricotta or cheddar are often used to make savory cheesecakes, so they normally have a lighter texture than sweet cheesecake, which is made with cream cheese or something similar in consistency. Some savory cheesecakes are made with cream cheese however.
Recipe for Savory Cheesecake with Spinach and Parmesan
This is a simple recipe for a savory cheesecake and the flavors of spinach, cheese, walnuts, garlic and more are combined for a mouthwatering treat. You can use pine nuts instead of the walnuts if you like.
What you will need:
1/3 cup plus 1/4 cup grated parmesan 1/3 cup melted butter 1/3 cup ground walnuts 1 clove garlic, cut in half 1/4 cup chopped walnuts 3 eggs 24 oz cream cheese, at room temperature 1/4 cup milk 1/3 cup olive oil 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1 cup chopped fresh spinach 3/4 cup fine, dry breadcrumbs Walnut halves, to garnish (optional)
How to make it:
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Mix the ground walnuts, breadcrumbs, melted butter and 1/4 cup of the parmesan together and press this mixture over the bottom of an eight inch spring form pan and an inch up the sides. Add the spinach, parmesan, walnuts, garlic, and salt to a food processor and puree until smooth. Pour in the oil and blend it into the spinach mixture.
Beat the cream cheese until it is fluffy and light and then add the eggs, beating well after adding each one. Add the spinach mixture and the milk and mix well again. Pour this mixture into the spring form pan and bake the cheesecake for an hour or until it is nearly set.
Switch off the oven and open the oven door a little. Leave the cheesecake in there for an hour. Garnish the cheesecake with the walnuts if you want, and either serve it warm or chill it in the refrigerator for an hour or two before serving.
